Policy Research Centre for Traffic Safety
The Policy Research Centre has as its principal task to pursue scientific and policy-relevant research on traffic safety. The Hasselt University research group Policy Management coordinates the centre's activities. Other participants are: the research groups Data Analysis and Modelling (UH), Architecture and Mobility (Provincial College of Limburg), Human Ecology (Free University Brussels) and the Flemish Institute for Technological Research (VITO). There are five major lines of research: 1. data analysis 2. infrastructure 3. technology 4. human behavior 5. public policy The group Policy Management is engaged in the fifth line of research carrying out two major projects: 5.1. economic analysis of (efficient) legal instruments (traffic regulation, liability, crime, tradable rights) and the insurability of risks. 5.2. cost-benefit analysis of traffic safety measures.
